Preflop
One of the most fundamental elements in Texas Hold'em is to
know the value of the starting hands. Poker strategies are
always designed to make money in the long run. Over a small
period of time all Poker players will experience great hands
being beat by hands like 52o. That's Poker. Any two cards can
win the game, but in the long run some hands will win you money
and some will not.
We at IslandOfPoker have designed a pre-flop Texas Hold'em
sheet that we have used playing Texas Hold'em. This pre-flop
sheet will ensure that you only play hands that will make you
money in the long run. The pre-flop sheet will not make you an
expert Poker player, but over time it will help you understand
the strength of the different hands. The sheet is designed for
a 10 person Texas Hold'em table and if you follow the pre-flop
sheet you will be playing approximately 20% of the
hands. The pre-flop sheet is only a guideline designed for
new Poker players. More experienced Poker players will be able
to evaluate each hand according to position/situation and play
accordingly.
The most important pre-flop skill is patience! The idea is to
only play a hand when you have an advantage. You have to beat
10 other Poker players and most of the time your hand will be
dominated by other players. By playing only premium hands you
will improve your Poker game significantly.
